Alternatively spelled as Callahan.

Jeremiah Callaghan owned the property where Western Star Lodge No. 2 met prior to the fire of 1853. It is currently unclear what the nature of this property was. His store and house were among the many structures burned in the fire.

In 1855, Callaghan and his brother Daniel built a 61x70 foot, one-story brick building that became known as the Callaghan Block. It was located on the south side of Main Street and its first tenants were Scott & Callaghan's, Dr. Roethe's Drugstore, Wiener and Company's Dry Goods, and Roman's Books[1].

Callaghan died on July 17, 1882[2].
